A. Introduction
The Faculty Board is a key academic body within each Faculty of the University, tasked with maintaining the integrity, quality, and relevance of academic programs and courses. Its role is pivotal in ensuring that curricula remain dynamic, aligned with the university’s mission, the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, and global best practices. The Board oversees curriculum development, academic policies, and faculty responsiveness to the needs of students, industry, and society.
B. Composition:
The Faculty Board's structure adheres to the General Ordinances under Section 35 of the U.P. Private Universities Act No. 12 of 2019 and Chapter IV, Act Ref. 29, Statute Ref. 26. It is a diverse body comprising:
- The Dean of Faculty- Chairman
- All the Heads of the Departments
- All the Professors of the Faculty
- One senior most Associate Professor of the Department
- One senior most Assistant Professor of the Department
- Two outside experts nominated by the Competent Authority
- Special Invitees may be invited to the Faculty Board meetings, with the prior approval of the Competent Authority. However, the Special invitee shall not have any voting right.
The Faculty Board convenes quarterly to discuss academic modernization, research enhancement, and policy updates. The Convener, nominated by the Dean, issues meeting notices a week in advance and maintains meeting minutes. The quorum is set at one-third of the Board members.
C. Responsibilities:
1. Curriculum Development and Revision:
- Update and align the curriculum with NEP 2020, focusing on multidisciplinary and skill-based education.
- Conduct periodic reviews and introduce new courses or revise outdated content to ensure relevance.
2. Academic Standards and Quality Assurance:
- Uphold academic benchmarks and ensure compliance with accreditation standards.
- Monitor assessment methods and review feedback to enhance teaching and learning quality.
3. Faculty Development:
- Encourage professional development and innovative teaching practices.
- Support faculty research with resources and collaboration opportunities.
4. Student Support and Engagement:
- Provide academic advising, career guidance, and an inclusive learning environment.
- Promote co-curricular activities and address academic grievances effectively.
5. Research and Innovation:
- Develop a research strategy aligned with university goals, encouraging collaboration and student participation in research projects.
6. Academic Policies and Regulations:
- Formulate fair admissions, examination, and grading policies while ensuring academic integrity.
7. Continuous Improvement and Strategic Planning:
- Evaluate academic programs regularly, align strategic plans with university goals, and adopt best practices to ensure long-term sustainability.
8. Any other item approved by the Board of Studies.
- Faculty Board reviews the proposals of Board of Studies and recommendation of Faculty Board shall be placed before academic council for decision.
