In the series of expert talks and providing recent industry exposure as well as contemporary planning & designing strategies for specialized buildings; Department of Architecture, Faculty of Architecture, Planning & Design (FoAPD) has successfully organized an interactive expert talk on “Healthcare Architecture & Professional Practice” on 27th Feb 2023 in seminar hall, Department of Architecture.
The expert talk started with the welcome and introductory Address of Dr. Safiullah Khan, Head, Department of Architecture. He highlighted the importance of ‘Healthcare architecture & professional practice’ for achieving best designs in healthcare architecture considering the latest medical, technological advancement and shows its relation with the architect’s role in the industry. He also explained how the latest technological advancement played its role in designing superspeciality hospitals.
The expert Ar. Ataullah Khan (Healthcare Architect & Planner and founder of Dynamic Architects, Lucknow), gave an overview of healthcare architecture. He emphasized the scope and purpose of superspecialist hospital designing with respect to the guidelines and IPH Standards and ongoing best practices adopted in the world for professionals. During the talk, he briefly explained how best design & planning with respect to climate responsiveness leads to the increase in the recovery rate of patients.
The other expert Ar. Hamza Meraj (Healthcare Architect & founder of BIM Nation, New Delhi) emphasized on the importance of the BIM in Hospital designing. He also demonstrated the methodology and criteria adopted to use the latest BIM softwares in healthcare architecture. He briefly explained with illustrative projects and practiced buildings specially for the students dealing with healthcare architecture in studios and thesis projects.
In a questionnaire session, students have interacted enthusiastically and cleared their doubts and myths with the field experts. The expert talk was successfully anchored by Er. Mohd Abu Zaid, who made the event interactive and lively throughout the session.
The program ended with the vote of thanks by Ar. Khurram Ashraf, Associate Professor, Department of Architecture. Students and faculty members learned about the "Hospital designing principles” during the talk and appreciated the expert for broadening our knowledge through their projects and practices.
