Antibiotic Awareness Week

Integral Unversity Event


The Faculty of Pharmacy (Department of Pharmacy & School of Pharmaceutical Sciences). Integral University, Lucknow observed "Antibiotic Awareness Week" during November 18 to 24, 2019 as part of the World Health Organization (WHO) campaign against emergence and spread of antibiotic resistance.

Several events were organized to mark this occasion. Posters and Banners were displayed throughout the week at prominent locations in the campus.

Visit to hospitals and a rural area was planned on Wednesday, November 20, 2015 Group of students interacted with patients, general public & health care workers in relation to Antimicrobial Resistance at hospitals namely Dr. Shyam Prasad Mukherjee (Civil Hospital) Balrampur Hospital & IMSA, Integral University, Lucknow. A group of faculty and students visited rural area named Palka, Bakshi Ka Talah, Lko. The student groups counseled the general public on the importance of oral and hand hygiene, vaccines and judicious use of antibiotics.

An awareness walk was held on Thursday, November 21, 2019, from Dr. Shyam Prasad Mukherjee (civil Hospital to Gandhi Pratima, Hazratganj Chowk, Lucknow and culminated with nukkad natak performed by students. Placards were displayed and pamphlets were distributed during the walk to generate awareness among the general public regarding use of antibiotics, its dose, when to use and avoid etc.

On Friday, November 22, 2019, a seminar on the theme "Antibiotic Resistance: A threat to global health included scientific talks delivered by Prof. Asad U. Khan, AMU, Aligarh, Prof R K Dixit from KGMU, Lucknow & Prof Mohammad Zafar Idris, Dean, IIMS&R, Integral University, Lucknow. The guests interacted with students and shared valuable information regarding use of antibiotics, their experience and research findings related to antibiotic resistance on this occasion.
