An awareness program at Major District Road 77C was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering on 21st October 2017. The faculty coordinators for the program were Mr. Nusrat Ali. A total of eighty-five students participated in the program.
The students of B.Tech Civil Engineering actively participated in the event. The student's coordinators were Athar All Azad. A total of 180 students participated.
A camp was arranged at MDR-77C -Kukrail intersection. Road users were made aware of the importance of safety precautions during driving. Some of the road users use mobile phones while driving, driving without a seat belt, ride two-wheelers without a helmet, drive on the wrong side of the road, and do not obey traffic signals. There are road users who take a turn without giving a proper indication of turning. Some road users are involved in rash driving and do not obey speed limits. Some road users were riding with three individuals on a single two-wheeler.
Road users were made aware of the hazards and how they can lead to fatal accidents. Road users were also made aware of the fines imposed by authorities on violations of traffic rules. Discussion with traffic officials was also made who expressed concern about rising fatal as well as non-fatal accidents on MDR-77C.
