Community Awareness Programme on Fetal Screening & Maternal Health

The Department of Allied & Healthcare Sciences (Medical Radiological Imaging Sciences), Integral Institute of Allied Health Sciences & Research, Integral University successfully organized an Extension Activity titled “Awareness on Fetal Screening: Healthy Mother and Baby” on 13th April 2026 at Dasauli, Kursi Road, Lucknow. The programme was conducted with the objective of creating awareness among pregnant women and rural communities regarding the importance of regular antenatal check-ups, timely fetal screening, and early detection of fetal abnormalities. The activity aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 3 (Good Health & Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), by promoting maternal healthcare awareness and extending educational outreach to underserved communities.

During the programme, participants were educated about the significance of ultrasound during pregnancy, balanced nutrition, personal hygiene, and identification of warning signs associated with pregnancy complications. Awareness sessions were conducted using posters, charts, and interactive discussions to ensure effective communication and better understanding among community members. Special emphasis was laid on the importance of early fetal screening and regular health monitoring to ensure safe motherhood and healthy childbirth.

The activity witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members of the department. Students actively interacted with local women and community members, thereby enhancing their communication skills, practical exposure, and sense of social responsibility. The programme also encouraged awareness regarding early pregnancy registration and the necessity of regular medical consultations during pregnancy.

The extension activity was organized under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Ashfaque Khan and Mr. Mojahidul Islam, whose constant support and encouragement ensured the successful execution of the programme. The activity was efficiently managed by Mr. N.N. Chaturvedi, MRIS In-charge, and Mr. Gulfam Ansari. Student coordination was carried out by Ms. Priya Yadav and Ms. Saman Khan, while educational material verification was supervised by Ms. Fauzia Khan.

Overall, the programme proved to be highly beneficial in spreading awareness regarding fetal screening, maternal healthcare, and preventive health practices among rural women. The initiative reflected the university’s continued commitment towards community service, healthcare education, and social responsibility.
