Department of Psychiatry Conducts Mental Health Awareness Campaign

Integral University Event

The Department of Psychiatry, Integral Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (IIMSR), Integral University, observed Health Awareness Day (April 2026) by organizing a mental health awareness campaign and seminar for staff titled Breaking the Stigma: Open Conversation on Mental Health.

The programme addressed the critical gap between experiencing mental distress and seeking professional help, which is often influenced by stigma in workplace environments. The initiative focused on normalizing discussions around mental health and fostering a psychologically safe environment where individuals feel encouraged to prioritize their well-being.

The “Breaking the Stigma” campaign was designed as a comprehensive initiative combining awareness activities with interactive seminars. It aimed to move beyond theoretical understanding and promote practical, everyday cultural change within the institution. The programme was conducted on campus through awareness talks and interactive sessions involving both students and staff.

The initiative significantly contributed to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by promoting mental health awareness and encouraging supportive community engagement.

The event witnessed active participation and successfully reinforced the importance of open dialogue and mental well-being within the academic community.
