Online Training Program on Uttar Pradesh Energy Conservation Building Code

Integral Unversity Event

Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA)", established in April 1983, is a nodal agency for implementation of various schemes in the state to facilitate the Sustainable Generation of Green and Quality power for the People of the State through Renewable and New energy sources and Conserve the Environment by Promoting the Energy Conservation measures and devices in the State. Its main objective is to formulate and implement a broad based energy conservation programme. Faculty of Architecture, Planning & Design (FoAPD) in collaboration with UPNEDA/UPSDA has successfully organized a “Two day Online Training Program on Uttar Pradesh Energy Conservation Building Code", on 17th and 18th April, 2023, for the students of B.Arch. 4th and 5th year. The program aimed to educate the students about the energy efficiency measures and practices required in building design.

The program started with the welcome and introductory address of Prof. Zeba Nisar, Dean Faculty of Architecture, Planning and Design. She highlighted the importance of energy efficiency techniques during the construction and operation of buildings and how it would play a crucial role in the creation of sustainable cities in the future. She also briefly discussed how an energy efficient building has become more and more vital due to high demand for energy and unsustainable supplies of energy.

The speakers for the technical presentation were Mr. Saif Uddin (IGBC AP, GRIHA CP, Energy Policy Advocate and Simulation Specialist – Energy Engineering) of UPNEDA and Mr. Shobhit Kumar. Consultant Engineer at UPNEDA. The objective of the training program was to create awareness and educate students about the UP-ECBC guidelines and its importance in building design. The program aimed to equip students with the knowledge and skills to design energy-efficient buildings that adhere to the UP-ECBC guidelines. The training program was held online and was conducted over a period of two days. The sessions were conducted by experts in the field of energy-efficient building design and UP-ECBC guidelines.

The training program was well-received by the students and provided them with valuable insights into the energy-efficient building design. The program helped students to understand the UP-ECBC guidelines and how to incorporate them into their building designs. The program was a success and provided students with the necessary knowledge and skills to design energy-efficient buildings that will contribute towards sustainable development.

The program was successfully anchored by Ar. Tariqul Islam & Ar. Sabeeha Haq. It ended with the vote of thanks by Dr. Safiullah Khan, Head of the Department of Architecture.
