The Department of Microbiology, Integral Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (IIMSR), Integral University, Lucknow, successfully organized National Handwashing Awareness Programme as part of Health Awareness Programme from 01st to 07th December 2025, under the theme “Clean Hands, Healthy Lives.” The program aimed to promote awareness on infection prevention, hand hygiene, clean water, sanitation, and health education.
The week-long activities commenced with an Inauguration Ceremony on 01st December 2025, where senior dignitaries addressed the importance of hand hygiene in disease prevention. This was followed by a Seminar Presentation on 02nd December 2025, where postgraduate students of Microbiology presented topics related to good health, quality education, and sanitation. On 03rd December 2025, a Poster Presentation was organized for MBBS II-year students, encouraging scientific communication and public health awareness.
An Awareness Session and Outreach Drive was conducted on 04th December 2025 at the Rural Health Training Centres (RHTC) and 06th December 2025 Urban Health Training Centres (UHTC), where faculty members and students educated the community on proper handwashing practices. On 05th December 2025, a Skit/Nukkad Natak was performed by MBBS students, creatively conveying key messages on hygiene and infection control.
The program concluded with a Prize Distribution and Valedictory Ceremony on 08 December 2025. The event was organized under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Noor Jahan, with Dr. Karuna Katiyar as Event Coordinator. The activities effectively aligned with SDGs 3, 4, and 6 reinforcing preventive health behavior and community engagement.
