The International Forum "Women In Stem- 2023"

Integral Unversity Event


It is a matter of great pleasure to share with you all the report on THE INTERNATIONAL FORUM "WOMEN CHEMISTS - 2023" which was organized by Tashkent Institute of Chemical Technology, Tashkent- Uzbekistan and Integral University, Lucknow- India during February 10 – 11, 2023 at TCTI, Tashkent was a grand success. This INTERNATIONAL FORUM was dedicated to contribute in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals “Ensuring gender equality and empowering all women and girls” (Goal 5: Gender Equality), which is one of the 17 goals in the field of sustainable development set by the UN for the period up to 2030.

The Forum was designed for various sections including: Technology of inorganic substances and materials based on them; Food safety and food technology; Chemical technology of fuel and organic compounds; Technology of winemaking, industrial viticulture, ecology and environmental protection; Integration of economics and management of industry, education, science and production; Industry 4.0, STEM education and gender equality. The forum was working in Uzbek, English, and Russian language to widen the circle of communication and impact.

Three member team from Integral University, Lucknow headed by the Co-convener of the event Dr. Alvina Farooqui participated in the event physically at TCTI, Tashkent. Uzbekistan.

In the inaugural session, Prof. Botir Usmonov Rector, TCTI appreciated the organisers of the forum and emphasised the need of women in STEM. He laid emphasis on encouraging the females towards the subjects of science technology, engineering and maths. Welcome speech was delivered by Zulayho Makhkamova, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Prof. Syed Nadeem Akhtar, Hon’ble Pro Chancellor, Integral University, Lucknow, India, joined the inaugural function online from India and welcomed the esteemed guests. He enlisted the contribution of women in STEM from all across the globe along with their names and their success. He also highlighted the need of this kind of program in future. Ozoda Parpieva, Chairman, Family and Women’s Committee; Norkulova Karima Tuxtbayevna, Deputy, Chairman, Committee for Family and Women for Innvations and Scientific Affairs, Uzbekistan; Ziyoda Takhirova, Deputy Mayor of Shaikhontohur District, Family and Women’s committee; Manzura Usmanova Scientific Secretory, Institute Chemistry and Physics of polymers of the Academy of Science of the Republic of Uzbekistan were the important delegates of the inaugural function.

Keynote lecture was delivered by Prof. Odina Jmaolinova Advisor, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan; Dr. Alvina Farooqui, Associate Professor, Department of Bioengineering, Integral University, Lucknow on “Bioactive constituents of microalgae and their health benefits, safety, prospects and potential for biomedical applications”. Prof. Mastura Aripova, Head, Department of Technology of silicate material and rare noble metals. Tashkent Institute of chemical Technology.

Invited lectures were delivered by Prof. Khalid SMA, Prof. Iffat Zareen Ahmad, Dr. Fatima Kosimova, Prof. Saba Siddiqui, Inoyat Atakhodjaeva, Prof. Levitsky I.A., Dr. Filatova Natalya Vladimirovna, Dr. Asma Farooque, Dr. Barno Abdullaeva,

Ms. Poonam Sharma, Assistant Professor, Department of Bioengineering, Integral University, Lucknow (in person at TCTI, Tashkent) presented her research work titled Valorization of Food Waste into Pectin: A perspective Food Additive

Mr. Gyanendra Tripathi, Research Scholar, Department of Bioengineering, Integral University, Lucknow delivered oral presentation (in person at TCTI, Tashkent) on Phycoremediation of Cr6+ from waste water and fungal assisted bioflocculation of microalgae for sustainable biofuel production

Other oral presenters were Elhan Khan, Priyanka Dubey, Suhail Ahmad (Research Scholars, Department of Bioengineering, Integral University, Lucknow) and they presented from Integral University, Lucknow via Online mode.

The forum was conducted flawlessly by Dr. Gulnora Aripova, and vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. Zebo Babakhanova, Head of International Cooperation Department Tashkent chemical-technological institute, Tashkent who emphasized the importance of team work for the success of any event.

On 14th Feb 2023 Round Table “Women-Engineers 0+” was organised for pupil of the Academic Lyceum at the Tashkent Institute of Chemical Technology and Secondary School number 28 and 116 of Tashkent, teachers, professor, international and academic partner university representatives. This event was organized in hybrid mode both online and offline at Faculty of Inorganic Substances, Tashkent Institute of Chemical Technology, Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Moderators of the program were Khidirkulova Maftuna, Prof. Zebo Babakhanova, Dr. Gulnora Aripova. In opening ceremony Prof. Botir Usmonov- Rector, TICT addressed the gathering and emphasised on the need of STEM in the society and among young girls and ladies. Welcome speech was proposed by Prof. Karim Norkulova Director, Center of Inventive Women, Uzbekistan. Indian delegates including Dr. Alvina Farooqui, graced and motivated the young brains in the field of science and showcased the glimpses of her research work based on multiple applications of cyanobacteria: a novel bioresource for sustainable ecosystem to sensitise the young researchers especially girls.

Presentation was delivered by meritorious scholarship holder leader students, doctoral students of TICT, and Olympiad in STEM championship winner school girls every presentation was followed by a discussion round.

Musical programme was organised to exhibit the culture of Uzbekistan to people of different countries. Award ceremony for active school girls and students was organised to motivate the girl students. The closing remark was proposed by Convener from TCTI, Tashkent Prof. Zebo Babakhanova and Co-convener Dr. Alvina Farooqui from Integral university, Lucknow, India.
