The Department of Community Medicine, Integral Institute of Medical Sciences and Research organized a "Thyroid & Diabetes Screening Camp" under "National Programme for Prevention & Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases and Stroke" (NPCDCS) at Urban Health Training Centre (UHTC) Sarvodaya Nagar, Lucknow on 07-11-2016.
NPCDCS focus on strengthening infrastructure, human resource development, health promotion, early diagnosis, management, and referral. Thyroid disorders in India characterized by a high prevalence (approx. 11% of adult population), minimal
diagnosis. low awareness. and low involvement of doctors in treatment. Almost 10% 01
Indian population suffer from diabetes. What is even more alarming is that about 27% of
them do not know that they suffer from the disease
Keeping above facts in mind screening of participants was done and blood samples were tested for Thyroid profile and random blood glucose.
