The Department of Allied & Healthcare Sciences (Medical Laboratory Sciences), Integral Institute of Allied Health Sciences & Research, Integral University successfully organized an Outreach Activity titled “Tuberculosis Educate; Test Eradicate” on 11th April 2026 at Dasauli, Kursi Road, Lucknow. The programme aimed to create awareness among rural communities regarding tuberculosis, its symptoms, preventive measures, and the importance of early diagnosis and timely treatment. The activity aligned with Sustainable Development Goal SDG 3 (Good Health & Well-being) by promoting awareness and prevention of communicable diseases, SDG 4 (Quality Education) through health education initiatives, and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) by extending healthcare awareness to underserved rural populations.
The campaign focused on educating community members about tuberculosis under the “Educate, Test, Eradicate” approach. Awareness sessions highlighted the importance of early testing, recognition of symptoms, timely pathological diagnosis, and adherence to preventive healthcare practices. Participants were also informed about the role of proper nutrition, personal hygiene, and regular medical consultations in reducing the spread of tuberculosis and maintaining overall community health.
To ensure effective communication and better understanding among participants, the programme utilized simple educational methods including posters, charts, demonstrations, and interactive discussions. Special emphasis was placed on encouraging individuals, particularly women and vulnerable groups, to seek regular health check-ups and timely medical advice for early detection and treatment of tuberculosis.
The outreach activity witnessed active participation from students and faculty members of the department. Students directly interacted with community members and conducted awareness sessions regarding tuberculosis transmission, symptoms, prevention, and the importance of early testing. Their involvement enhanced practical learning, communication skills, and social responsibility while contributing towards community healthcare awareness.
The programme was organized under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Ashfaque Khan and Mr. Mojahidul Islam, whose continuous support ensured the successful execution of the activity. The programme was efficiently managed by Mr. Imran Hussain, BMLS In-charge, and Mr. Arun Kumar Saxena. Student coordination was carried out by Mr. Kismat Ali and Ms. Alma R. Khan, while educational material verification was supervised by Mr. Ghayas Uddin.
Overall, the outreach programme proved highly effective in spreading awareness regarding tuberculosis prevention, timely testing, and healthcare practices among rural communities. The initiative contributed towards promoting early diagnosis, reducing health-related stigma, and supporting collective efforts for tuberculosis control and eradication, thereby fostering a healthier and more informed society.
