Department of Biosciences to Celebrate National Science Day

Sir C. V. Raman announced to the world his famous discovery “Raman Effect” on 28th February, 1928 and was subsequently awarded the Nobel Prize for it in 1930. To commemorate Prof. Raman’s achievement, Govt. of India declared 28th February as National Science Day and the nation is celebrating this auspicious day since 1987.


Under the National Science Day 2019 celebration, the Science Department of Integral University is going to organize the various activities at university premises only, The Focal theme of this year is ‘The Science for People and The People for Science’. Prof. Syed Waseem Akhtar, Hon’ble Chancellor and Founder, Integral University and Chief Guest Dr. Rajeev Tripathi, Director, Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Prayagraj along-with the Dr. Hasan Jawaid Khan, Chief Scientist & Scientific Coordinator, International & Popular Science division, New Delhi will flag off the function. The program will be followed by the Inauguration of 1 MW Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant at BNLT 4th Floor.


The different activities under the event are as follows:

Poster Presentation
Last Date of Entries: 25th Feb 2019,

Theme: "THE SCIENCE FOR PEOPLE AND THE PEOPLE FOR SCIENCE"

Further Guideline: Poster Presentation comprises of presenting technical posters on the given themes. The teams will be required to present the poster and its relevance. Team should be individual or two members per team. Size: A1 size (591 x 841 mm) or A2 size (420 x 594 mm). Participants will not be provided any material or stationery item. Participants will be required to report at 12:00 p.m. sharp. 15 minutes will be given to arrange your posters on the display area. Five minutes will be given for presenting the poster & for the question & answer round. Printed posters are not permitted. The theme of the paper can be conveyed with aids like drawings, paper cuttings and short write-ups. There may be no mechanical or electrical devices attached to the poster. All material must be accessible without having to lift or turn a page. The name or affiliation of the participant shouldn’t be placed on the Poster. Only Unique registration ID provided to you should be mentioned in the poster. All posters should be displayed on the allotted place against your Unique registration. All Participants will be given Certificate of participation. Judgment criterion shall be on creativity, content, communication skills and elements present. Decision of the judges will be final and binding.

Essay Writing Competition

Theme: "THE SCIENCE FOR PEOPLE AND THE PEOPLE FOR SCIENCE",
Team size: Individual Event, Language: English

Further Guideline: Participants will be required to report at 10:40 a.m. sharp. Guidelines: Time allotted 45 minutes only for writing the essay. Maximum words limit 1000 words. Only A4 Sheet for writing will be provided. Participants will not be provided any other stationery item. Students interested in participation should carry their Identity Cards with them at the time of competition. The essay should be the original work and it should not be copied from anywhere. Any practice of plagiarism will lead to disqualification. The writing should not have grammatical error as well as overlapping of contents. There should be structural coherence. The introduction and conclusion of the essay should be proper and rational. Use of any electronic device is not allowed during the competition. The evaluation will be made on the basis of content, coverage, facts, writing spirit inclined towards the topic and logical presentation with due rational. The decision of the Jury shall be final & binding on all the participants.

Oral Presentation

Further Guideline: Prizes will be given to first and second position holders. Judgment criterion will be on creativity, design, clarity, content, communication skills and elements present. Decision of the judges will be final and binding. Participants will be required to report at 11:30am.

Quiz Competition

Rules and Further Guideline: 1.Individual Participation, 2. Questions will be from General Science, 3. Negative marking will be done, 4. Calculator shall not be allowed Prizes will be given to first and second position holders. Certificate for third and consolation position holders Participants will be required to report at 01.00pm.
