English literature is one of the most popular specializations in the Master of Arts program. Master of Arts in English Literature is a two years duration program of four semesters in the department of Languages, faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. This program is extremely beneficial because it can produce a wide range of skills that can be applied to a variety of career opportunities. This course will strengthen one’s language skills, critical thinking skills, analytical skills and research skills all of which are incredibly important in both professional and personal perspectives. The courses in this program are not only confined to British, American or Indian Literature but also include courses in New Literatures such as African, Australian, Pakistani and Canadian Literature, giving students the opportunity to delve into the enormous ocean of Literature from across the globe. This content of the program comprises of poetry, fiction, prose and drama in stilling moral and social ideals in students’ personal and social life, resulting in a highly cultured and civilized individuals. After obtaining degree of M.A. in English, students may go for disciplinary and multi-disciplinary research in English Literature, Comparative Literature and Translation Literature or even work in industries as a language translator, content editor, and content creator.
