Anaesthesia is essential for the practice of surgery. Since its beginning in 1842, it has evolved in to a recognized speciality providing continuous improvement in patient care.To carry out the responsibility , every anesthetist needs a foundation of medical science.

The department of anaesthesiology was established in the year 2011 as a part of Multispeciality Hospital, Integral Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Lucknow. Ever since then this department has been imparting expert clinical care and service in the field of anaesthesia and critical care. The department is well equipped with the latest technologies and equipments which make the department of anaesthesia as one of the most advanced departments of IIMS&R. At IIMSR a 7 member strong faculty provides routine and emergency anesthesia services to the entire hospital. The number of surgical procedures receiving anesthesia annually numbers about 10000. The department is running a 7 bedded Intensive Care Unit with ventilators and state of art equipments.

MCI has approved three MD Anesthesiology seats for the department in the year 2020.The department is providing teaching and training to undergraduate and postgraduate medical students.The future goals of the department include commencement of PDCC courses in various sub-specialities of anesthesia .We at IIMSR aim to provide quality care and experienced training in order to set a milestone in the field of medical sciences.
