The Department of Biochemistry was established in the year 2011 as one of the pre-clinical departments in IIMS&R. The Department is run by experienced and dedicated faculty whose involvement is not only limited to teaching and research but also in providing diagnostic laboratory services to outpatients and inpatients. The department is involved in Undergraduate teaching for medical students and postgraduate training in MD Biochemistry. About 30 papers in peer reviewed national and international journals of repute have been published since the inception of the department. The goal of the department is to offer excellent standard in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching; to encourage student participation in self-directed, experiential learning, conferences and research activities; to conduct basic, clinical and biomedical research and to provide good patient care.
