Health and hygiene are very important in a person’s life. It stands for basic cleanliness and good habits in someone’s daily life. Hygiene is very important to stay free from illness. Health and hygiene stand together as cleanliness will protect from a lot of diseases. Basic cleanliness must be followed by everyone and must be developed through practice. Taking baths and brushing teeth is an example of everyday hygiene. Having a healthy lifestyle will lead to a better overall health. The Department of Community Medicine, Integral Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Integral University, Lucknow, is committed towards providing high quality Services in the area of Health and Hygiene. These Services are provided from the Rural Health and Training Centre (RHTC) at Sansarpur, Lucknow and the Urban health and Training Centre (UHTC) at Sarvodaya Nagar, Lucknow. The Department of Community Medicine organises Health Camps in the villages of District Lucknow. In these Health Camps Health Check-up and treatment is provided free of cost to the community. Health and Hygiene Education and Awareness is provided regarding the prevention of diseases and healthy lifestyle. Health Services are provided to all sections of the community including Women, Children, Adolescent and Geriatric population. These Health Camps are organised by Qualified Medical Professionals, Paramedical and Nursing staffs of the Integral Institute of Medical Sciences and Research .
World Hand Wash Day 2020 was observed at Integral University on 15 October 2020 as an awareness and behavioral change programme. A Webinar on the theme topic "Hand Hygiene for All" was conducted online on 15 October, 2020, in which an eminent speaker Dr Saurabh Kashyap, Associate Professor, Department of Community Medicines, IIMSR delivered an informative and interesting talk, highly appreciated by the audience. The program was organized by the Convener Prof. Monowar Alam Khalid, Dean, Students' Welfare, Integral University in compliance to directives from Additional Chief Secretary, Uttar Pradesh Government, which was informed to all the students & faculty through university communication portal. October 15 is celebrated as "World Hand Wash Day" as a global advocacy day, dedicated to increasing awareness and understanding about the importance of hand washing with soap as an effective and affordable way to prevent diseases and save lives. In today's time, to avoid the pandemic like COVID-19, it is mandatory to keep social distancing, use masks and wash hands properly. The objective of the program is to spread awareness among students, faculty & staff about the benefits of hand washing and to avoid diseases.
