New Projects

1. Real Time Energy Consumption Monitoring System

Integral University

Real Time Energy Monitoring System is recently installed in 40 kW SPV plant at Pharmacy Block to clearly distinguish whether the power consumed in building is generated internally from the solar power plant or imported from the grid. Monitoring details are as under:

  • Solar Generation Monitoring – Daily, Monthly Cumulative and till date cumulative solar generation.
  • Grid Consumption Details – Daily, Monthly cumulative grid consumption.
  • DG Set Running Status.
  • Phase Current RYB Status – To check unbalanced loading.
  • Power Factor Status – For maximum energy utilization of grid.

2. Micro-Inverter along-with Monocrystalline Module PV System

Latest system integration technique where centralized inverters are replaced by microinverters connected to each module in the SPV system independently.

Advantages:

  • Each module is connected to one Micro-Inverter and thus are independent of each other. No string system is required.
  • Shadow issues and dust accumulation on one module will not affect the others.
  • High DC voltage is not generated which prevents fire hazard.
  • Each inverter has inbuilt MPPT which avoids module mismatch.
  • Remote, individual module level monitoring is possible.

Comparison between presently installed String Inverter System and Micro-inverter system. The shadowed panel will not affect other panels in micro-inverter systems whereas in string inverter system all the panels are adversely affected. (Picture: Enphase Energy Systems, USA)

3. Design of High Efficiency Organic Solar Cells

Organic Semiconductors form the basis of Organic Solar Cells. They have alternating single & double bond conjugated structures and conduct electricity based on their chemical configurations.

Structure: Generally, an organic solar cell mainly consists of cathode, active layer, anode and buffer regions. Photovoltaic action is initiated in active layer which comprises of donor and acceptor materials. The interface between the acceptor and donor materials is called the junction and has been research focus for higher efficiency.

Present Status: Development of prototype organic solar cell with improved efficiency through device engineering is the target. Computer simulation, in-silico model development and design verification for the same is complete in association with IITR-Lucknow and IIT-Kanpur. Prototype development is under process in association with LNMIIT, Jaipur. We are thankful to these institutions for their support and guidance.

Integral University

Advantages:

These materials are flexible, economic, environment friendly and may be easily designed for better optical, electrical and mechanical properties.
