“A great teacher never stops being a student” fortify Human Resource Development Center, Integral University under the aegis of UGC-HRDC Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh successfully conducted a Training Program on “Academic Leadership for Campus Sustainability” from April 8th -11th 2019 under the banner of Centre for Academic Leadership and Education Management (CALEM), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
The Academic Leadership Program has been a frequent event at Integral University to provide a boost to the faculty and administration. It is to deal with the many aspects that make the job of academicians for the higher Education challenging and different from that of other professionals. Integral University organized a training program for the academic leaders at the University campus during 8 Th - 11th April 2019. Many Heads of Departments Vice-Chancellors, Directors, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Deans and Chairpersons from different universities and institutes around India were invited to attend the training program and share their experiences.
The participants came from many of the esteemed institutions like, Amity University Lucknow, Azad Institute of Engg. and Technology, Lucknow, Dr Shakunta Mishra Degree College, Lucknow, BBD University, Lucknow, Feroz Gandhi Institute of EngineeringTechnology, Raebarelly , Dr MC Saxena Group Of College, Lucknow, IILM Higher Education Lucknow, National P.G College, Lucknow, RR Group of Institution, Shri Gurunank Girls Degree College, Lucknow, Institue of Management and Research,Lucknow, Sacred Heart Institute of Management and Technology, Lucknow actively took part in the various sessions of the 4-day program to equip themselves with the industry best techniques to offer premier quality education to their scholars. In the inaugural day address Dr. Syed Aqeel Ahmad, Director HRDC, Integral University welcomed the participants and also wished them success in their course pursuit. He said that campus sustainability is to be borne by green and safe environment. He further added that Integral University is known for its lush, green and growing campus. He requested the participants to execute collaborative efforts towards campus sustainability for the better sustainable future for the entire nation.Prof. Aquil Ahmad Vice Chancellor (Acting), Integral University remarked that “A good teacher is like candle, it consumes itself to light the way for others.”
Prof. M. A. Khalid, Head Department of Environmental Studies and DSW, Integral University, the Guest of Honour of the Program reflected on the importance of the subject. Prof. Aqil Ahmad, Vice-Chancellor (Acting), Integral University, the Chief Guest of the Session requested the participants to sensitize themselves for the sustainable environment not for the campus only but also for the living.
In the four-day training program, the distinguished speakers namely Prof. A. K. Saxena, Prof. M. A. Khalid, Prof. Wazhat Hussain, Prof. T. Usmani, Dr. Arshad Hussein, Dr. Farhan Fazli, Dr. Ali Jafar Abedi and Mr. Faiz Ahmad spoke on the subjects of their expertise i.e. “Creating and Managing on Campus Biodiversity,” “Ways of Maintaining campus Biodiversity,” “Waste Water Management,” “Understanding Carbon Neutrality and Prepairing Carbon Budgets,” “Sustainable Architecture,” “Roof Top Solar PV System,” “Solid Waste Disposal,” “Green Gardening Indoor and Outdoor Plants”.
In the Valedictory session, Prof. Syed Aqeel Ahmad thanked all the guests Deans, Directors and Heads of University for their presence. He acknowledged and appreciated the participants who actively participated in last four days. On behalf of Human Resource Development Centre, Integral University, Prof. Syed Aqeel Ahmad heartily congratulated all the participants from varied disciplines who might have surely acquired the attributes of Academic Leadership in the past four days.
Prof. A. K. Saxena, Professor and Dean Faculty of Commerce and Management, the guest of Honour of the session said that sustainability is not only borne by developing infrastructure but its a collaborative effort which includes overall growth and development of each and every individual associated with the campus to attain campus sustainability.
The Union Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India has sanctioned the establishment of the Centre for Academic Leadership and Educational Management (CALEM) at the UGC Human Resource Development Centre, Aligarh Muslim University, and Aligarh. The CALEM is working to revitalize colleges, institutes, and universities by organizing courses for their faculty. Integral University, Lucknow is one of the Regional Centers for conducting various courses of CALEM.
The session concluded with the vote of thanks by Mr. Zishan Raza Khan, Deputy Director, HRDC. He acknowledged the support of UGC-HRDC, AMU, Aligarh and congratualted the team CALEM, Integral University and all the volunteers for their untiring help and support for conducting the trainng program successfully.
