The Scimago Institutions Rankings (SIR) is a classification of academic and research-related institutions based on a composite indicator that includes three sets of indicators based on research performance, innovation outputs, and societal influence as evaluated by their web visibility.

Overall, Universities, Health, Government, Company, and Non Profit Rankings, as well as Research, Innovation, and Societal Rankings, were used to categorize the rankings. Each year, a calculation is made based on the results gathered over a five-year period that ends two years prior to the ranking's publication. The inclusion criterion is that the institutions had published at least 100 works included in the SCOPUS database during the last year of the selected time period. Best Quartile is obtained by the institution in its country comparing the quartiles based on the overall indicator, research factor, innovation factor and societal factor.
