A talk on Personalized Medicine (PM), Genetics & Cancer was organized by Departments of Bioengineering, Biosciences, and Pharmacy under the aegis of HRDC, Integral University in the Central Auditorium on 7th October 2021.

The talk was attended by Honourable Pro-Chancellor Dr. Syed Nadeem Akhtar, Honourable Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Javed Mussarat, Registrar Integral University Prof. Shahid Ali Khan, Deans, HoDs, faculty members, and students. The event was attended by 265 participants in all.

An Invited Talk was delivered by Prof. Sher Ali, Distinguished Professor, Department of Life Sciences, Sharda University, Greater Noida & Former Head, Molecular Genetics Division, National Institute of Immunology, New Delhi on Personalized Medicine (PM), Genetics & Cancer.

Prof. Syed Aqeel Ahmad, Director, HRDC Integral University delivered the welcome address and apprised the audience about the scientific achievements of the esteemed speaker.

Prof. Sher Ali’s talk was full of insightful inputs in the field of personalized medicine that gave the audience a glimpse of how molecular medicine is going to change the landscape of clinical practice. He elaborated on the status of personalized medicine and mentioned that genetic variability is the main reason for differences in the observed effectiveness of drugs on different individuals which can be a major hindrance in therapeutic outcomes. He enthralled the audience through illustrative examples and stressed the need to study the role of interactome and gut-brain crosstalk which can be associated with some major diseases and their therapy. He also highlighted the impediments that have hindered the success of personalized medicine.

The talk was followed by a Q/A session moderated by Dr.Snober Mir, Associate Professor, Department of Bioengineering. The session attracted a lot of queries from faculty and inquisitive students which were answered by the speaker in a unique style blended with guidance for future research.

The session closed with the presentation of Memento to the Guest speaker by the Honourable Pro-Chancellor and Vice-chancellor, the Pro-Chancellor appreciated the esteemed speaker and urged the faculty to learn from his skills and teaching pedagogy. The Vice-chancellor extended gratitude towards the speaker for sparing valuable time and expressed his wish for future collaborations.
