One Week Faculty Development Programme on 16th - 20th May 2020.

The crisis is always paired with opportunities. And it’s time to appreciate the full potential of technology to ensure continuity of learning by staying safe at home. Open-source digital learning solutions and Learning Management Software are the best platform for increasing the quality of teaching and learning. With the aim of equipping faculty members with required pedagogical skills and knowledge, Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) and Department of Computer Application, Integral University organized a One week online Faculty Development Programme on “Moodle : Learning Management System” , in association with Spoken Tutorial, IIT Bombay, Mumbai, from 16 May - 20 May 2020 during this COVID-19 outbreak.

Spoken Tutorial is an initiative of IIT Bombay under Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission on Education through ICT by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India to promote IT literacy through Open Source Software. The FDP was self paced, and required approximately 4-6 hours of active engagement per day. Moodle is the world's most popular learning management system designed to be modular, and allows teachers to build their curriculum that they can display on their private website. Its highly customizable interface gives teachers or admins more freedom to design their websites according to their brand.

The FDP successfully enlightened the participants and encouraged discussion leading to a better understanding on the development of smart content and virtual content to develop personalized learning.

This Faculty Development Programme (FDP) was skillfully coordinated and managed by Mentor, Dr. Mohammad Faisal and Coordinators, Dr. Tasneem Ahmed, Mrs. Halima Sadia and Mrs. Nashra Javed. And it has fulfilled its prime objective to bring the faculties of different engineering, science and allied subjects onto one platform to provide hands-on practice sessions on Moodle (LMS).

One Week Faculty Development Programme on 11th - 15th May 2020.

The outbreak of COVID19 pandemic throughout the globe has caused extreme distress to the students/faculty members and is a setback to academic activities. In this moment of crisis, UGC, AICTE and MHRD have endeavored to leverage digital access for continuation of the academic activities by online mechanisms. Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) and Department of Computer Application, Integral University has taken this outbreak as an opportunity to create an online platform for the faculty members to enhance their knowledge while staying safe at their homes. A One week online Faculty Development Programme on “R Programming”, in association with Spoken Tutorial, IIT Bombay, Mumbai, was organized from 11 May -15 May 2020 during this COVID-19 outbreak.

Spoken Tutorial is an initiative of IIT Bombay under Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission on Education through ICT by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India to promote IT literacy through Open Source Software.
The FDP was self paced, and required approximately 4-6 hours of active engagement per day. R is an open source software - a well-organized and sophisticated package - that facilitates data analysis, modeling, inferential testing and forecasting. It is user friendly software which allows creating new function commands to solve statistical problems. It runs on a variety of UNIX platforms (and similar systems such as LINUX), Windows and Mac OS. The participants learned the basics of R Language and its implementation in data analysis and forecasting.

Key Highlights of FDP

  • Total 262 participants across the globe participated and benefited.
  • Faculty members from academic institutions of Iran, Afghanistan, Nigeria, Oman, Dubai and Saudi Arabia registered themselves for the FDP and got benefitted.
  • From India, participants from various reputed academic institutions like Aligarh Muslim University, Integral University, IIIT Ongle, VIT Vellore, University of Mumbai, IIT Roorkee, Deccan School of Pharmacy-Hyderabad, KLG Gogte Institute of Technology Bangalore, University of Allahabad, BBAU-Lucknow, Indira Gandhi National Tribe University-Madhya Pradesh registered and successfully completed the one week faculty development program.

This Faculty Development Programme (FDP) fulfilled its prime objective to bring the faculties of different engineering, science and allied subjects onto one platform and to provide hands-on practice sessions on R. The online FDP was very well coordinated and managed by Mentor, Dr Mohammad Faisal and Coordinators Dr. Tasneem Ahmed, Mrs. Halima Sadia and Ms Nashra Javed.

The next FDP is scheduled from 16-20 May 2020 on ‘Moodle Learning Management System’ in association with Spoken Tutorial-IIT Bombay.
